Ace Swart Interview – Publisher Vice Magazine South Africa
Today we’re interviewing Ace Swart who is the publisher of Vice Magazine in South Africa. If you don’t know Vice Magazine, it might be best to do a little research first! They are probably one of the best established underground (if you could still call them underground) publications in the world. They are also issued free, with a print run world wide of 1 million. We’ve asked Ace to explain a couple of things to us like: What is Vice Magazine, Some defining Vice articles, The different extensions of Vice, Why they’re coming to South Africa, How they make money and when we can expect Vice to hit South Africa.

DW added these pithy words on Jun 07 09 at 1:28 pmAre South Africans even ready for Vice? We’re conservative, conformist and lack imagination. How are we going to handle the subversive content (which often borders on homophobic, racist and sexist). And the guy being interviewed certainly doesn’t seem the Vice ‘type’.
DW added these pithy words on Jun 07 09 at 1:30 pmand we’re too far removed from what happens in Europe and the States. How will we relate?
rouleaux added these pithy words on Jun 08 09 at 9:02 amDear DW
Don’t be upset because you are conservative, a conformist and lack imagination. Doesn’t sound like you can handle what Ace and the Vice team have to offer? Let’s see what they come up with before we challenge their ability to generate content, which frankly, I think there is more than enough to go around. Also, please clarify what a “Vice” type person is like…

Lol, controversy and Vice Magazine are one in the same. This magazine will push Freedom of the Press in S.A to the limits.
