One of South Africa’s best-selling books, John van de Ruit’s Spud, is being made into a movie. Shot earlier this year at Michaelhouse in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands, the film is set to be released in SA in November 2010. The rest of the world will have to wait till 2011 to see it. The movie is directed by Donovan Marsh and produced by Ross Garland of Rogue Star Films based in Cape Town and Brad Logan from BLM Productions. The film stars John Cleese as The Guv and 14 year old Troye Sivan as Spud. Troye is South African but lives in Perth, Australia where he got his big break as Young Logan (Hugh Jackman’s character at 12 years old) in the feature film X-Men Origins: Wolverine.
