Savanna gets tactical

Savanna Tiger Ad

DRAFTFCB Cape Town made use of the hype about missing tiger Panjo for a tactical ad for one of their clients, Savanna.

They say, ‘With all the hype in the press and on TV news about Panjo the missing Bengal Tiger, we couldn’t let this golden opportunity pass us by. This began virally and has appeared as a banner on all IOL’s stories relating to the tiger.’

Writer: André de Wet
Art Director: Declan Sharp

Latest news is that Panjo has been found.

Err, no, because tigers have stripes. Wtf?

Coda, the play on the word spotted is the joke. Just like in all their other campaigns. The peanuts are ‘complimentary’. Think it fits nicely with the voice of Savanna.

“the peanuts are complimentary” is funny because “complimentary” has double meaning that works in both contexts. If it were a leopard, that would be funny, but there’s no double meaning here.

Coda…man you’re slow…The word “spotted” has a double meaning. Spotted as in “sighted” and spotted as in “dotted”. Don’t make a fool of yourself.

Peter, you think I don’t get that? How is it funny that a tiger can be dotted? If that’s the joke (it can’t) then clearly my sense of humour is a spot on my character.
