Gerhard added these pithy words on Jul 20 10 at 3:53 pmIt’s fun to watch, but what on earth is the purpose of it?
It’s not supported by a campaign or even delivering a valuable message of any kind in my opinion…
Uno added these pithy words on Jul 20 10 at 4:59 pmYeah I agree – nice to watch but perhaps there is a message we’re missing? Anyone from Vodacom care to explain? I’m sure it’s something like Vodacom brings the party or….
Curious added these pithy words on Jul 20 10 at 5:17 pmAny credits? Director? Creatives? Production house?
Curious added these pithy words on Jul 20 10 at 5:23 pmAny credits? Director? Creatives? Was there a director and were there creatives involved, or is this one of those client whims done by someone’s cousin?
rosealix added these pithy words on Jul 20 10 at 5:51 pmThink it was made by Ola! Films. http://www.olafilms.tv/
What agency does Vodacom?
coda added these pithy words on Jul 21 10 at 3:55 amVodacom ads make me want to barf; nothing new here.
Johann added these pithy words on Jul 21 10 at 7:17 am@curious, some things we just find online without it being sent to us by the agency. If that happens we unfortunately have no details. Should we receive it we will happily update the post.
Mike added these pithy words on Jul 21 10 at 8:39 amSheeeeeeeeeeshters.
That is awful. No wonder they didn’t give you credits!
Rowan added these pithy words on Jul 21 10 at 9:12 amVodacom has way too much money. What a waste.
But hey, the meerkat series of adverts apparently did wonders for sales. *shudder*
kate added these pithy words on Jul 22 10 at 2:47 pmCringe worthy. Vodacom just can’t seem to get it right.
Erin added these pithy words on Jul 22 10 at 5:13 pmThis is NOT the final version. It’s missing VO and title, and did not flight like this. Can’t help but wonder where you got this from…we’ll supply the final version so at least the comments can be scathing AND relevant.
Curious added these pithy words on Jul 22 10 at 5:26 pmHey Erin, with a different voice over and tittle it must be a completely different production, no doubt -we’ll have to eat our words. Reveal the names of those involved while you’re at it.
Johann added these pithy words on Jul 22 10 at 6:04 pmHey Erin, we found this on the Youtube account of the production company Ola! Films. Happy to replace with an updated correct version if you can supply us?
rosealix added these pithy words on Jul 23 10 at 11:57 amSaw the ad on TV last night, if I remember correctly the message at the end of the ad is ‘Life’s cooler connected to the Vodacom family’. It’s then followed by a voice over saying ‘Who’s your daddy?’. Does this make a difference to your opinions?
coda added these pithy words on Jul 23 10 at 5:23 pmI also hadn’t heard that “Who’s your daddy?” voice over until I saw the ad on TV. It just makes it that much worse, if that’s possible. That this isn’t tounge-in-cheek freaks me the hell out. Vodacom are consistently marketing themselves as that stupidly naive try-hard kid that nobody wants to be friends with because their breath reeks of vomit and snot is hanging from their nose.
Johann added these pithy words on Jul 26 10 at 11:29 amHi All, this has been updated with the VO.
Anyone care to share their thoughts?
Curious added these pithy words on Jul 26 10 at 12:57 pmHi Johann, sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Still not a Grand Prix winner…
Thesiger added these pithy words on Jul 28 10 at 7:09 pmUtter, self-indulgent, self-important, vacuous, pompous rubbish from a company that is about as cool as Klippies and coke. My sympathies are with Ola Films who likely saw the pay check and lost all sense of propriety.
Lee added these pithy words on Aug 02 10 at 2:35 pmI like it – and I think it has a very definite message – it’s cool to be part of the Vodacom family …
Lee added these pithy words on Aug 02 10 at 2:51 pmAnd about the V/O – I like that too. The implication is surely that Vodacom’s your Daddy … and a very cool Daddy at that …
Thesiger added these pithy words on Aug 02 10 at 4:12 pmLee if you think Vodacom is your (cool) Daddy, life is surely going to offer some unpleasant surprises.
Or you are from FCB. Nothing else explains it.
Peter added these pithy words on Aug 24 10 at 9:11 amVodacom has an edge! This is a cool ad! Quite Honestly SA has some the best ad campaigns in the world! I’ve been to the US and television ads there leave a lot to be desired. And yes Vodacom has indeed achieved their goal. People are talking about it, good or Bad, people are talking about it! Whether that will translate into revenue remains to be seen……..
