Well done Kate and Thando!
Are these ads approved by Lucasfilm? Did the agency get permission to use Yoda’s likeness? Seriously doubt it. As a Star Wars fan its truly shocking to see a highly recognizable pop cultural icon degraded to chewing gum in a badly illustrated ‘ad’. George Lucas and David Ogilvy would be so proud. Not
Nooit guys…
I agree, an old man would have been just as effective. But hey, who gives a sh*t about copyright and trademarks anyway?
Who gives a sh*t about trademark and copyrights? Marc, I guess you dont work in branding, advertising or any real creative business right? Imagine your creation being used to sell tampons? How would you feel? Lucasfilm could wreak serious havoc if they saw these sorry excuses for ads. But hey in South Africa we dont really care about copyright or creative integrity do we? Our work is derivative of western and European culture hence an American sci-fi legend is used to sell chewing gum in South Africa? Still shocked by the lazy creative and even lazier target markets that just accept this drivel.
Yo Jeff, I was being sarcastic. I did start my message with “I agree”. i AM ON THE SAME PAGE AS YOU. sHEEZ.
