Young Africa Live is a product of the Praekelt Foundation who builds open source, scalable mobile technologies and solutions to improve the health and wellbeing of people living in poverty. Their programmes have reached over 50 million people across 15 countries in sub-Saharan Africa.

YAL recently asked 50 revealing questions and received 138 954 answers which were put together to create these stats. Not only are the results of the survey interesting and insightful, but they are beautifully designed. We love the typography and infographics.

Anybody know who did the design?

Yes, I can confirm the design is by Gustav Greffrath and the animation is by James Elgie. Much hard work, very well done.

Cool infographs Just wondering about the conflict between 138K frank responses and the very first response. What does “Maybe” sexually active mean?

fabulous presentation of fascinating and relevant questions…
    do tell more…

how many total respondents…in other words did everyone who took the survey answer all the questions?
any idea how many men versus women responded?
how did they GET the questions? was the survey equally well designed and if so do you think that influenced response?
are you guys doing this across african countries…especially sub saharan ones?
