I for one am sick of seeing ads like this. The people involved must be shot. (I hate it.)

  2. zayne rutherford says:

sub-sub-par. frivolous, inane and presumptuous in a sense. purely as an observation, the credit list shows not a single individual of the black demographic even though this is the audience the agency is trying to reach. “creative” white folk way over their heads who think that pigeonholing a race with simple stereotypical tag lines & puns etc like “eh-eh”, “eish”, “eita” & “two tennahs” etc and shooting an ad for a product predominantly for the black community with a white family eating pap & vleis in gugs with quick shots of taxis, gaatjies & barber shops make it “south african” and all this other strond is okay are k@k visin.

they even taken a predominantly white sport (rugby) and thrown in this bok jive. people can’t honestly think these are black folks coming up with these ideas. its in a sense a form of exploitation for monetary gain and ego rubbing amongst their peers and the rest of the industry. jupiter is by far one of the best agencies in the country but this is tripe mate. this rant comes not from this ad alone but from all these “uniquely south african” ads which have cropped up the last few years which consist mainly of the aforementioned elements along with some tongue-in-cheek and/or some heartwarming concept fabricating the idea of good times. and just cos you have 46% black shareholders doesn’t make you BEE, hire qualified black creatives to do the creative work and not just have one or two behind the scenes pumping money into the company and not having any other involvement!! in a very small nutshell its an issue of trust and ego. that’s what i think of this ad. ad nauseam.

  3. Tjs says:

Zayne, you’re being just as presumptuous as you say this ad is. Just look at the Chicken Licken TVCs. These ads are hugely popular with the target market and they’ve been led up by white teams for ages. And no I don’t work for either of these agencies. I’m for good talent, regardless of colour.

  4. zayne rutherford says:

true. well then i guess credit is due, and i mean that not in a sarcastic way as these agencies know how to sell these products and ultimately that’s their goal regardless of how they get there.

  5. terri says:

If you take advertising back to the basics. This ad is very successful. One single message is communicated, in a memorable way. A lot of ads I’m seeing on TV seem to not relate a message at all. It’s almost like someone has had an idea, or wants to use a certain DOP, or saw a technique and can’t wait to pin it to the next client they get their hands on.

  6. some art director says:

love it! never get tired of the ‘black-accented-afro-mama’..

oh, just for drama – i’m black and connect with it:) and i know my mom
    would love it too..

  7. amy claire says:

I love these ads. They are amusing and get the benefit of an otherwise pretty boring product across in a memorable way. Bet no one will be using more than one cap after seeing these. Kbye.

  8. georgina says:

I like it. Made me and my colleagues laugh. And it generated responses. If you look at it from a resource use angle, it’s not often you get a consumer brand telling you to consume less. And in an amusing, not a ‘be good and green’, way

  9. Smith says:

I think it’s really funny. Show this to any person in the street and they would laugh. Show it to people in advertising and they’d moan because they can’t accept the fact that advertising isn’t all that deep.

  10. Cathy says:

Just love the new Omo ad – the lady with the fly swotter is so funny!

  11. daniella says:

I like it.It’s funny and punchy, and gets the message across.

  12. StrangersLove says:

This is nothing but black on white racism..Seriously if my maid hits my wife like that on the hand I will strangle her or better take that hand and slap her silly….

  13. alittlebird says:

Hahaha! @StrangersLove: Your comment made my day. Seriously? Dude, are you for real?

  14. Mindrazor says:

We are all fed up with the same old detergent ads, using ‘scientific CSI’ angles to convey their message. Come on, it’s washing powder. I think we need to be able to laugh at ourselves, and using the ‘maid’ to tell off the missus is a nice reversal of roles. I laughed. I like it, and I’ll remember it WAAAAAAAAAAAY after the ridiculous ‘CSI type ninja toilet ducks’ and ‘Mr Muscle (Monkey) ads. Brand managers need to get a life and stop acting like sheep. Be original and let your agencies generate original content. Don’t insult your audience with flashy graphs and laboratory scene bull$h!t.

Nice ad, ha ha ha ha. Thank you for listening.

  15. Chest Rockwell says:

It’s not the most mind-blowing ad – but it’s certainly entertaining and I’ll remember that I only need to use just one cap. It’s that simple. It’s a good ad that actually does the job. Nice one Jupiter.

  16. Bobby says:

what would the response be if the roles were reversed? i.e. the white women was hitting the black women for using too much detergent?

  17. candice says:

It’s hysterical. human truths – always the best. ;-) Go guys.
(the fly swatter is the unsung hero)

  18. Henco says:

I just love this add!!! This is just how people think, no matter what your color is….. Brilliantly done!

  19. no dumb madam says:

I can not stand this advert. I am sick of white bashing, stupid madams, the help knows better kind of ads. IT IS SO OVERDONE!! I agree, it is stupid to encourage violence in ads. If the help hits me, she is most certainly fired, If I hit her for using too much omo, I will be in jail for assault and called a rascist. This ad is NOT funny in our country. It’s inappropriate.

  20. Jaco says:

Why do most people assume the fly swatter lady is the maid? The outfit does look a bit like a maid’s outfit, but it’s gold. She seems to be more of a Fairy Godmother type that magically appears when you want to use more than just one small cap.

  21. Really says:

the ad is funny. Why do we read too much into things??? Do we really have to pull race cards in everything? It doesnt matter if it is a black art director, that is not important at all. Black people can think too and have the best insights as they have knowledge about both worlds. To judge people by their skin colour is stupid and sad.You shouldnt be visiting advertising sites if your thoughts are this deep.

  22. Kyle Venter says:

Kak ad. I hate this shit!

  23. Kyle Venter says:

If my domestic worker klapped me I’d moer her!

  24. Minette says:

THIS IS HYSTERICAL!!!! I love this ad

  25. Kate says:

LOVE the ad! It makes me laugh each time I see it! The wash-day fairy with the flyswatter has just the right tone of voice. Wish I could do the same with some of my co-workers… On the serious side? Definitely made me do some calculations to see if using less would save money if I swopped brands. Ad achieved what it was supposed to do!

  26. K man says:

Hysterical. I love watching this ad. It got me to buy the product!!

  27. no dumb madam says:

Really? How “Deep” is this ad? If we leave race out of it, would it work if the madam hits the maid/fairy/whatever? Everybody has the right to comment on adverts as it is aimed at everybody, especially madams!!

  28. Barry says:

I just love this ad, so many other people are just full of k@k as they say!! I laugh each time I see it. Very clever!

  29. Lyn says:

I hate it. It is beyond irritating. The script writer and head creative on the job should be tarred and feathered for such an idiotic campaign!Talk about wasting clients money! Just one small swat is enough for those pea brains!

  30. Whitey says:

I hate this add. I’ts racist. And I think a civil war would have broken out if the madam was black and the maid white, so don’t judge me If I think It’s racist from a white point of view. Give someone to much freedom and they abuse it. Keep a eye on youtube for my Flash version of this add… Bande gaan brand… And that’s your version of a black fairy? Looks more like a cheap zulu version of Beyonce in Gold Member

  31. Dean says:

Whitey, you are F&£(*&^ kidding me? This ad is about as racist as saying “I see trees of green, red roses too.”

  32. Whitey says:

Dean… There’s something called “South African History”… Oh yeah that thing we HAVE to learn about in our 12 years of school… Oh yeah now you get it… But wait “he eh” It only matters if it comes from the other side… Only then is it racist… Go back to school Dean and read between the lines… Your not going to make an add in the U.S about a plane crashing into a building or a add in Germany about Nazi’s… No because there’s a history… Why should ours only be brought up when it’s from the “Fairy/Maid’s” point of view? Yeah guess you didn’t think about that…

  33. Madeleine says:

    It’s a great ad just love it…

  34. Nonhlanhla Mxoli says:

I’m in looooooooooove with this ad, it clearly makes it clear, 1 cap is enough!!!

Stop overdosing, cos 1 cap is enough!!

    Loooove it!!!

    Insightful, and well exploited!

  35. Charmelle says:

Hilarious! Just showed it to my housekeeper and she almost wet herself.

  36. Poobie says:

loved it and the radio ad as well

  37. Greg says:

Love it. Brilliant and will go down in SA ad history as a “do you remember that ad” ad. Loving the different versions of the radio ads too.

  38. Robbie says:

The OMO advert is Completely racist. It promotes interracial violence!!!!! Figure it out!!!! I will be posting this internationally so the world can see what SA has come to.

  39. Lauren says:

I love these ads, i don’t see them being racist etc. I think people read WAY too much into these things. The radio ads are HILARIOUS I LOVE the dubstep mix up. I actually bought the product because of the ads, everytime I use it, i’m singing that song in my head!

  40. anaa says:

love this add! my classmates imitate everything and make jokes. I love it. Its the best thing ever

  41. Hettie says:

My man geniet hierdie advertensie baie en lag so heerlik, dat ek nou vir hom so ‘n ringtone soek. Weet een van julle dalk waar ons dit gaan kry? En dan moet ek byvoeg: Ek weet hierdie advertensie werk!!!! Oe-ê-ê, maar ons ou landjie is VOL klakouse!! One small smile…is enough!!!!!

  42. Sue says:

Love the add…their is nothing political about it. In fact it is one of those ads which would work nowhere else but here in old RSA. It beats the rubbish ad that is on now…..stupid overseas men whose words and mouths are not even in sync. What utter nonsense! Local is lekker!

  43. wynand says:

Oh my goodness! Listen to all this bullsh!t come on people if you had the slightest understanding of the pshycology of tv ads you would know that they mere fact that the ad is annoying makes it very successful! Wake up! Leave your political square ball-bearing minds aside for a moment! The ads work! No one especially the brand don’t give a continental about your over-sensitive political view! The brand reaps the benefits of the ad! So much so that the so called common demeaning language is on every ones lips! Get a life! Join the new world! Or go sharpen you sophisticated yet retarded assegai somewhere else! We have all moved on! Are you leaping back into the past? Go struggle go! Or you go struggle in your obscure insecure personality! Oh yeah I know I can’t spell! But sure as hell I can think. Accept and find better things to comment about!

  44. ha says:

All these racial commenting people are racist themselves. People do not change, they just suppress their feelings.
So shut the flush up u racist baskets
