5. Shannon Hope Album Launch

4. Die Entführung Aus Dem Serail
Youthful energy will be the order of the day in this high-octane production of one of Mozart’s less-seen, but utterly seductive, comic masterpieces. The outstanding young talents of the UCT Opera School and Cape Town Opera tackle this charming Turkish-inspired Singspiel, in which two high-flying sopranos are rescued from the clutches of a wealthy Pasha by two ardent tenors

3. Catch
The inimitable comedian and actress Shirley Kirchmann returns to Kalk Bay Theatre with the Cape Town première of her latest hit Catch. Kirchmann, of ‘Train Your Man’ and ‘Scratch’ fame, opened her new one-woman show at the National Arts Festival this year to a wave of acclaim. The piece is about Tallulah  - she’s 32 and single, all her married friends keep trying to hook her up, not because they care about her just because they don’t like to suffer alone.

2. Mafikeng Road
Hot on the heels of its runaway success at this year’s National Arts Festival, the award-winning Mafeking Road returns to Cape Town in October.The physical talents of Andrew Laubscher (Lovborg’s Women, Is it because I’m Jack) and Mathew Lewis (Lenny and the Wasteland) come together under the direction of Tara Notcutt (director of …miskien; Dream, Brother; and Thom Pain) to bring you well-loved stories such as In The Withaak’s Shade, and Willem Prinsloo’s Peach Brandy in a way that they have never been seen before!

1. Some Like It Vrot – THE BAXTER GALA EVENING
David Kramer’s new musical comedy Some Like it Vrot features Marc Lottering and Christo Davids in the lead roles of Smiley and Fuad, characters created by Lottering in his stand-up routines. Whilst the show is running till end December, tonight is the Baxter’s very special and ouspicious Gala Evening, in conjunction with the show.Â
The order for the evening are as follows:
Drinks and canapés will be served on arrival at 6pm. After this patrons will attend the performance, which starts at 8pm. This will be followed by a private reception where they can meet the star-studded cast, which includes Christo Davids, Marc Lottering and Alistair Izobell. Food and drinks will be served and entertainment will be provided by local band The Blackties (Chad Saaiman, Keeno Lee and Lloyd Jansen) at the reception.
In addition to all of the above, audience members will stand a chance to win the following prizes:
- A two-night stay at the 4-star Lagoon Beach Hotel
- A hamper from a French perfumer house
- A signed Marc Lottering DVD box set and a poster of Some Like It Vrot signed by the cast

I don’t need to seek reason as these are some of South Africa’s most talented beings. I enjoy and appreciate every new piece of work produced, whether it be live on stage or on the small scree. Big ups to some of S.A.’s BEST…wishing you all much deserved success for the future.
