Hello World for Lombard Insurance ‘Ad of the month’

Gates & Jobs

Gates & Jobs

Such a great print campaign by Hello World Agency for Lombard Insurance Group. The campaign prompts readers to imagine the possibilities if JK Rowling had the opportunity to partner with Roald Dahl, if Bill Gates had gone into partnership with Steve Jobs, if directors Alfred Hitchcock and Steven Spielberg had collaborated, if Walt Disney and Jim Henson had worked together and if Yuri Gagarin was partnered with Neil Armstrong for the first moon landing.

The clever idea and flawless execution won the Creative Circle’s September ‘Ad of the Month’ in the print category announced last week. Hello World let us in on how the ads were created:

The print campaign was executed in five phases and was given a classical TIME Magazine treatment to capture the essence of these world-influencers in the prime of their careers. To make the shots look authentic and true to life, some amazing local locations had to be found. These include the space research centre, built in the 60s near Hartebeespoort Dam that is still in use, for the Astronauts’ shoot and the props room at the Pretoria State Theatre for the Hitchcock/ Spielberg shoot.

We also collaborated with some of the industry’s finest: Lamppost Productions took care of all production needs such as stylists, wardrobe and make up. Mike Lewis and Nick Van Reenen, one of the country’s top photography duos produced the beautiful photography.

The copy reads, “Imagine. Imagine the possibilities if the right partnerships were made. Lombard Insurance Group believes that with the right partnership, the possible can become reality.”

Sure it looks pretty, but is the logic not a bit flawed on this one?
Because all of these guys did pretty well on their own.
Were these people not so successful because they were stubborn brilliant individuals who followed their own vision?
And as for armstrong and gagarin? all you’d have is two pilots on a space plane. how is that better? because armstrong already went to the moon. how could gagarin make the experience any better for him?

    just curious.

Great campaign! Even the most brilliant minds could have achieved more if they’d partnered with equally brilliant minds.

  3. What says:

Armstrong and Gagarin makes no sense.

  4. VanVokken says:

Bill Gates and Steve Jobs…? Aikona! No thanks.

Liking the execution but I agree with mmm; my first reaction was that some of the partnerships aren’t well matched given they were both extremely successful pioneers anyway without the partnership. I like the idea of the creative collaboration ones but Jobs & Gates, Armstrong & Gagarin, not so much.

And Gates… dude looks like a lady.
