Grethe Bredenkamp recently graduated from Design Academy of Fashion (DAF) and won the academy’s award for the most commercially viable range.
She describes her collection, “My range is designed for the everyday woman living in a city, who’s cool but doesn’t take herself too seriously. I was inspired by colour, particularly electric/cobolt blue as well as shades of blue and green. I mostly used silks, chiffons and satin silks which brought in an element of femininity. The garments are simple and wearable therefore, I believe, making it accessible.”
What Grethe enjoys most about her chosen field is working with an array of people while being constantly inspired and challenged. Her plans for next year are to work for both I Love Leroy and Mr&Mrs, “helping them reach the vision they have for their brands and store.”
