Hannah Lavery recently graduated from DAF with the Design Excellence award for her final collection. As the photos illustrate, each look that makes up the range can be worn in different ways. Hannah explains her concept, “What inspires me is the way each person has their own individual style and I wanted to encompass this individuality in my range.¬† In order to give each outfit room for interpretation I made each individual piece reversible and/or changeable.
Another reason for doing this was to create a range that was eco-conscious in a realistic way.¬† Basing the pieces in my range on fashion ‘classics’ and then making them changeable, I created pieces that would encourage investment buying so as to reduce excess.”
Hannah describes her graduate range as feminine, wearable and sophisticated while allowing for individuality and self-expression. Qualities we can be sure to see more of as the first run of her own line goes into production. Hannah shared her reasons for loving what she does, they are, “being able to create something out of nothing and to then see how people interpret it in their own individual way.”
