The 21st of January will see the first of many 5 For Change black tie fundraisers. Influenced by society fundraisers in New York, 5 For Change aims to get Cape Town all dressed up and to change perceptions about philanthropy and sustainable social change. The initiative, set to become an annual affair, is dedicated to raising awareness about five inspiring social enterprises – Let There Be Light, Greenpop, MyLife, African Brothers Football Academy and Write On Africa – while, quite literally, having a ball.
Ross Mckernan from 5 For Change says, “It’s an interactive evening where guests can view and engage with creative, inspiring and thought provoking displays presented by the 5 different organisations and simultaneously learn more about how these organisations are changing the face of altruism and philanthropic Cape Town”.
