Rob Garrett has combined his love for image making with his love for furniture design with the creation of his Super8 light.
He says, “I’ve finally produced the first prototype of my new light. The theory behind this piece is to give new life to redundant cameras. I love the aesthetic beauty of vintage cameras and the Super8 light is a product of that. Cameras are built to receive light and expose it onto celluloid. By using old cameras that are no longer practically functional, and by converting them into lighting/displays, the roll is reversed. The camera now emits light and is the centre of attention rather than the celluloid it exposed decades ago.”
When it comes to interior design, Rob is inspired by clean, beautiful and functional design. As for photography, he regards it as a hobby and shoots mostly on film.
