Nando's Official Response To Santam Challenge - Between 10 and 5

Nando’s Official Response To Santam Challenge

This just in, fresh from the production house. The final word in the Nando’s vs Santam back-and-forth.

The friendly battle of the brands started when Nando’s, the usual suspects, spoofed the well-known Santam TV commercial featuring Sir Ben Kingsley. In response Santam hit them back with a challenge. They’d be prepared to overlook the spoof ad if Nando’s followed their instructions to have meals delivered to the Johannesburg Children’s Home by 4pm today.

Nando’s gladly accepted the terms, delivered a day early and has guaranteed to provide the children’s home with free Nando’s meals once a month for a whole year. This is their official response entitled ‘Talk to the hand.’

Thanks to Black River FC and King James for the entertainment.

Let’s look back:

i just wish nando’s would get off their do-gooder, so healthy and nice horse. they use battery chickens, which is pretty gross. but hey, who cares what they really do when they can spend budget telling everyone what they stand for. meh.

    FUCK YES!

  4. Julia Katz says:

what proof do u have that they use battery chickens? they use free range chickens and if they didn’t someone would have taken them to the ASA by now for false advertising since they hardly fly (ehm) under the radar.

so many insurance ads on TV they’ve spilled over into fast food. it’s an infestation. the entire advertising and broadcasting industry has mutated into a giant insurance robot, funded by frightened consumers in lego suburbs built on exploitation

  12. Chris says:

and what’s with all the respectable half-way across the sea accents doing the rounds, like the last foot-soldiers of the moth club risen from the dead

I loved this!!! As someone has already commented, I feel proudly South African!!!

I would just like to comment on Santam’s ad though. I have seen the advert several times on TV and found it very entertaining, have rewound it to see the uniform changing etc. But when my husband and I saw the Nando’s spoof, we were convinced it was an Allan Gray ad….the brand name certainly didn’t make itself memorable? Maybe a few more yellow hands would link Santam’s signature colour to the ad? ;) Does anyone else feel the same?
