The first phase of the 2012 Pendoring campaign has kicked off and entries to the annual Afrikaans ad awards are open.¬† This year‚Äôs campaign theme is ‚ÄúVat Oor!‚ÄĚ, which translates to ‚ÄėTake Over‚Äô, and refers to the opportunity that the R50¬†000 Prestige Prize affords the winning team -¬† a trip to any agency, anywhere in the world.
The creative team behind 2012‚Äôs Pendoring campaign is Andr√© de Wet (Copywriter), Riaan van Wyk (Art Director), Aaron Harris and Doug Larter (Creative Directors), Mike Barnwell (Executive Creative Director) and Francois de Villiers (former executive creative director at Draftfcb). Kronk and Clement de Bruin are responsible for the illustrations and the digital partner is Buynary.
All the Pendoring prizes are really great, Gold winners in every category (including the Student categories) take home R6¬†000, Silver winners receive R2¬†500 and the overall winning student wins an internship for 2013 with Draftfcb, as well as a R10¬†000 bursary.
Although traditionally an Afrikaans advertising award, it‚Äôs not only Afrikaans work that can win at this year’s Pendorings. The Truly South African category¬†accepts work in any of South Africa‚Äôs 11 official languages and covers television, radio, general categories and now integrated campaigns too. The winner of this category takes home a R20¬†000 cash prize.
Closing date for entries is 25 July and judging takes place on 16, 17 and 18 August.
