In the build up to the UEFA Champions League final this weekend, worldwide sponsor Heineken and their SA agency challenged the dedication of local football fans with a facebook app.
For the past five years Heineken International has hosted the Heineken Star Final, where selected global ticket winners can view the UEFA Champions League final in exotic cities around the world. This year they chose a secret location in Cape Town, where guests will be treated to a football feast with VIP treatment today and tomorrow.
Inspired by the Heineken® “Pantheon” advert and created by M&C Saatchi Abel, the app consists of a quiz that puts users’ footballing knowledge to the test. The ultimate winners each week, leading up to this one, won tickets to the Heineken Star Final.
Even though the competition is over, the app is still live for fans to play until the end of next week.
Motif Studios was tasked with the opportunity to shoot the cinematic opening as well as the goal-defining moments in the game. Shot against a green screen, the Pantheon environment is built up in 3D, coloured, textured and lit. The questions are randomly selected for each challenge.
