Says Who collaborated with Angie Batis on these Joburg and Cape Town inspired pieces for DDB’s Converse billboards.
Nick Christowitz from Says Who let us in on the process, “DDB asked us to create something interesting for Converse to occupy some billboard space in CT and Jozi. We came up with the idea of building each city inside a pair of classic converse all stars.
Once our idea was approved we had a few days to cut the size 17′s in half, measure, design the elements, laser-cut, and glue in place. The shoes were then photographed by Brian Gibbs just in time for the guys from DDB to do the final billboard layout. It was intense but so much fun.”

Great detail. It reminds me of the Onitsuka “Made of Japan” campaign from a few years back http://bit.ly/MZfuf3
should have made this entire thing into a cut out billboard and positioned it as a welcome to Joburg or cape town billboard at the entrances to each city.
still nice.
you could have also added animatronics behind the billboard to make things animate and move in a collage animation kinda way.
anyways, budget and time, budget and time…
Says Who did an awesome job. Great idea, brilliant execution.
Very cool. Agree with Justin. That’s a rad idea.
Yip really cool, and yes should def do what Justin said. Def would add more impact to the awesomeness.
Its a shame that Converse, a supposedly “brave”, instantly recognisable brand, still thought consumers would need a product line up (not one but two shoes) a more prominent fourth logo and, just to make sure consumers knew what to think, a heart. <3
it’s ok i’m sure they could have done better than this…..what happened to the LET’S TAKE IT OUTSIDE CAMPAIGN…
ok job….somewher i agree with justin about the entrance to the city
