Sindiso Nyoni also known as R!OT is a Zimbabwean born artist based in South Africa and is well-known for his politically-inspired illustrations. Have a look at some of his previous work, here.
This, his latest piece, was made in reaction to the recent Lonmin shootings. Just like the opinions surrounding the event, Sindiso says that the response to the illustration has been mixed.

I think riot is right on the money with this one its a very literal expression of the current state of policing … keep it up , We need more of this to open up peoples eyes to the truth.

I got this artwork this past weekend from Sindiso. I really felt that the artwork is apparent at this particular moment here in South Africa. We have no leaders at all at the top, only few community leaders that really create an impact to peoples lives. Today’s politicians preach the values of the greats Steve Biko, Chris Hani and Nelson Mandela and their not living by that. Its only a lip service they are providing to the masses and empty promises. The public need to learn from history: Look at what Mao did to china, what Hitler did to Germany and what Obama is currently doing to America. Its a huge fat lie and the general public fall for it. Anyways, let me not be carried away. To Sindiso, I love the work like i said when we met and keep it up. Ashe!!!!!!
