As SA’s top online retailer, Kalahari.com needed to find a way to remind people that times have changed and that they could easily do all their festive shopping online. To do this JWT Cape Town tapped into the insight that many a modern day Christmas wishlist is a list of links. To start they profiled the top ten best-selling toys available through the online store to create a child’s wishlist. Then, instead of writing down the names of the toys, they listed the URLs linking to the toys on Kalahari.com. To make the execution authentic, they armed a 10 year old boy with a fresh box of crayons to write a letter to Santa. The strip ad ran in local newspapers in December.
