Coffee@Capital

Capital Plants is a peaceful nursery right in the centre of the country’s executive capital, Pretoria. A few years ago owners Eddie and Charmain Briel decided to add a coffee machine to their secret city garden, and Coffee@Capital was born. Now Coffee@Capital has a full breakfast and lunch menu, outdoor seating, domesticated chickens and a few fountains to drown out the noise of the city.

This quiet city hideaway is popular for its calm atmosphere, great coffee and fresh (and affordable!) food. It’s a homey spot with nostalgic bits of retro memorabilia scattered around casually, all handpicked and placed by Charmain and Eddie. The branding and identity was a collaboration between the owners and the manager, Emmarentia Kirsten, who keeps everything running smoothly.

They serve everything from breakfast pancakes to homemade burgers and nachos for lunch, along with a selection of beautifully fresh cakes, paired with Tribeca‘s coffee of course. Plus, their WiFi is free and fast, which makes this a great spot if you want to get out of the office to soak up some of Pretoria’s bright winter sun.

They’re open Monday to Sunday 8am – 5pm (May – July) and 8am – 6pm (August – April).

Visit them at 196 Venter Street in Capital Park, Pretoria or find them on Facebook.
