Churn is just around the corner and we’re feeling the buzz. The boutique beats festival brings to the fore the best of the underground electronic music scene for a non-stop, 29 hour affair.

The festival is sonically curated by the brains behind Kitchener’s (Broaden A New Sound and Andrew The DJ) in collaboration with BeatNN and the Hadedah collective. They say, “The music comes first and we’ve unhinged our jaws to spit a jammy-packed line up of our favourite cutting-edge live electronic acts and fresh selectors.”

This year Churn is headlined by the legendary Charles Webster and Daedelus. With their latest release Chrome Tapes still ringing in our ears, Christian Tiger School are billed as well as fellow Capetonian Card On Spokes. Durban Gqom masters Rudeboyz join acclaimed Joburg DJ Kid Fonque and rising stars include Jazuelle, Buli and Vox Portent.

Danger Ingozi of Broaden A New Sound wants people to “Expect the unexpected. Embrace your discomfort zone. Your new favourite song. Your new favourite feeling.” Ahead of the festival Riaan Botha of Broaden A New Sound has compiled a special edition Churn sampler playlist for our #NowPlaying series. Have a listen for a magnificent taste of what will be on offer this weekend.

Churn is happening at Tweefontein Melkery in Kempton Park from 11am on Saturday, 5 September to 4pm on Sunday, 6 September. Visit the event page for more info and book your tickets here.
