Lucie de Moyencourt’s ‘Exhibitus’ Playfully Depicts How the Public Engages with Art

Parisian born Cape Town based artist Lucie de Moyencourt is having her second solo exhibition titled Exhibitus. Inspired by a recent trip to Europe, Lucie’s pieces form a visual chronicle of her escapades through the great museums and galleries in Europe. Not only do her paintings encapsulate the works of extraordinary artists they also depict how the public engage with these pieces. The show also highlights the juxtaposition between the original artwork and her representation, as well as the masterpiece and the mundane. Through Exhibitus, Lucie pays homage to her informal and idiosyncratic art training and stays true to her expressive, playful and fun style.

See Lucie’s work at the Voorkamer Gallery between 1 – 31 October 2015.
