A Fierce Fashion Shoot Starring ‘Lost in the World’ Actress Honey Makwakwa

Xolelwa “Ollie” Nhlabatsi’s short film Lost in the World stars actress Honey Makwakwa and tells the tale of Whitney, a police officer whose girlfriend is brutally murdered, following her subsequent quest for revenge and retribution. The film has its South African premiere at the Independent Mzansi Short Film Festival this past July and was screened on international shores at the Thessaloniki International LGBTI-Q Film Festival last month. It’s been nominated for the Baobab Award for Best Short Film and is premiering in the UK for the first time on 5 November at the Royal African Society’s Annual Film Festival.

Ahead of the UK screening, Blackwater Productions have released a new trailer and Ollie has shared a fearless photo shoot featuring the film’s leading actress. Shot in Jozi against a gritty urban backdrop, Honey stands out in an array of monochromatic looks with vampish lips and a devil-may-care attitude. Confrontational and brazen, she gives everyday wear the power to stop viewers in street.
