Jaco Haasbroek Brings The Good News

Decorating Cape Town’s lampposts and making pedestrians and drivers do double takes are the witty Good News ZA posters by Jaco Haasbroek. Initially inspired by a pet poster that read ‘Stolen’, he says, “I was driving home and thought it’s quite sad when someone loses a pet and then the idea popped into my head that by simply adding ‘Our Hearts’ at the bottom of the poster it would completely change its meaning and turn it into something positive. This then evolved into the fictional news headlines”.

Using puns, the headlines draw attention to simple things to amuse and remind us not to take ourselves too seriously. Still in it’s early days and with no expectations except keeping things lighthearted, we hope that perhaps one day we’ll find a similarly amusing newspaper gracing newsstands and local cafes.
