A Balmy Bathouse Series by Anke Loots

Like Long Street Baths, Anke Loots’ swimwear shoot is refreshing and charming. Sporting one and two-piece bathing suites, the models are like contemporary water nymphs with a soft and dreamy disposition. There’s a sweet seduction that resides not in a hyper-sexualized female body, but instead the pastel palette, faded wall murals, crystal clear water and delightful swimwear (which gracefully compliments their figures), creates a nostalgic yearning for careless summer days. Drawing timeless inspiration from Deborah Turbeville’s 1975 Bathhouse series and shot in one of Cape Town’s older hidden gems, it’s a comely portrayal of fresh-faced beauty and poolside tranquility.
