Systraat: Introducing South Africa’s Very First Animated TV Family

With digital migration and on demand viewing on the rise, SABC 3’s latest animated sitcom is right on time. Written by Carl Stemmet, Systraat is making TV history by being South Africa’s first animated sitcom and the first show on SABC to premiere on YouTube before TV.

Having launched on 24 November, Systraat depicts the lives of the Kotze’s, a multi-racial South African family of four and the shenanigans of their neighbourhood. The sitcom also features cameo roles by singer Nadine and renowned news anchor Riaan Cruywagen.

The thirteen episode sitcom is 24 minutes long and took the 10 man production team 7 months to produce and finalise. Systraat is broadcast on Tuesdays at 8pm on SABC 3’s YouTube channel.
