NMMU Posters by Boomtown

Boomtown Strategic Brand Agency created these posters for Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University. They were tasked to portray the values of the university in a creative and visually arresting manor to the staff and students. The campaign is currently running internally and will run for the remainder of the year. They explain their method: We utilised hand illustrated, eye-catching visuals to portray each value and then silkscreened them in bright colours onto recycled card.

Tropitone sunless bronze – public benches

A very interesting and bold ambient idea by morrisjones&co for Tropitone Sunless Bronze. They tell us about the piece:

Tropitone Sunless Bronze is a self-tan product that allows you to have perfectly tanned skin all year round. In order to stand out in a new era, we tactically spray-painted benches in public areas with the words, “Nie-Blankes” (Non-Whites)– a symbol typical to that of the old South Africa. Being such a strong symbol, it not only grabbed the attention of passers-by, but made a very strong impact. With the product logo sprayed onto the concrete at the bottom of the bench, it is very evident that thanks to the efficacy of the product, you will no longer have white skin.

Idea Bounty – Peperami Crowdsourced TVC

Peperami has just launched a new “it’s a bit of an animal” advert to British TV viewers. The ad features the memorable self-cannibalising “animal”, from earlier Peperami ads, but now it has equally wild kids – “they’re bits of an animal”. Having recently split with Lowe, their agency of 15 years, Peperami opted to source the creative idea for this ad, not from an agency, but from the “people”.

The latest ad was conceived and scripted by Rowland Davies, an ex-creative director from Germany who submitted his idea with Kevin Baldwin, a copywriter from London. Their joint effort beat 1,185 entries and won the $10,000 prize facilitated by crowdsourcing platform, Idea BountyRead more…

Ogilvy + Write on Africa’s Creative Fundraiser

You’re invited by Ogilvy and Write on Africa to ‘come watch an arty movie, with arty people at an arty venue’ to raise funds for the Percy Bartley House Rejuvenation. The movie is entitled “Long Street” and is by filmmaker, Revel Fox. It’s set in Cape Town (in case you didn’t get that from the title) and stars the well-known South African director’s wife, Roberta Fox, his daughter, Sannie Fox, from the band, Machineri and Busi Mhlongo. This is a campaign for The Sunflower Fund by The Jupiter Drawing Room and Clickthinking. The Sunflower Fund is an organisation which was founded in 1999 by parents of children with leukaemia, to try and get financial support and raise the number of bone marrow stem cell donors in South Africa.

The 1 in 100 000 Challenge was conceptualised as a build up to National Bandana Day on 12 October 2010. The campaign, designed by Jupiter Drawing Room, demonstrates the harsh odds that only one in every 100 000 people suffering from leukaemia will find a bone marrow stem cell match. Read more…

New Dunlop TVC

Dunlop has a new tv ad currently screening to advertise Dunlop Zones, their retail outlets. The ad aims to position Dunlop Zones as the ultimate destination for a premium tyre fitment experience, and outstanding service from passionate, committed professionals. The ad is focused on ‘Human Precision’ as opposed to their previous commercial, here, that focused on driving precision.

The advertising agency who came up with the concept for the commercial is O’Donoghue & Associates. John O’Donoghue says, “We were given the challenge to show how Dunlop Zone dealers are passionate in a very precision driven way, capturing viewers’ attention in a manner that builds on the success of our previous precision driving advert”

The production company who shot the commercial is Collective Films and the ad stars the talents of three Parkour artists, including world renowned British Parkour ace and stuntman Chase Armitage, along with two of South Africa’s own Parkour talents, Dane Grant and Vernon Willemse, playing the role of Dunlop Zone staff.

(Parkour, also known as Free Running, is a demanding physical and mental discipline in which participants fluidly navigate a route using their surroundings to keep moving forward and in doing so perform acrobatic launches, bounces and jumps off and around various natural elements.)

Instead of going the boring and predictable flyer route, we decided to create these spectacles with eyes on the front and info on the back, as a way of getting people to visit Spectacle Warehouse.
