Serenade your Walls – a 10and5 exhibition

The 10and5 Poster Project 2010 is the first of our annual initiative of South African designers and artists designing posters guided by one collective theme. This year’s exhibition is called Serenade your Walls, and is a collection of posters designed for 14 local bands.

The project aims to showcase South Africa’s finest local design talent, whilst simultaneously celebrating this country’s lively music scene.

Serenade your Walls features one guest artist from Argentina and 12 local creatives, who will be showing their A1 band posters at the AM I Collective studios in Cape Town on 1st August and Wolves in Johannesburg on 4th August, respectively.

Please join us as we celebrate South Africa’s finest at our exhibition opening with wine, live music and very good design.

The other day we featured some mad Smirnoff package designs done by local illustrators. Here is a mash-up of the work as well as a bit of an explination behind the theme of each design. The video was created by JWT Cape Town.

Interview with Clint Bryce – Space Patrol Car

Clint Bryce as a youngster Our feature of the day is most certainly our interview with one of the most respected men I’ve ever met in the digital space. Clint Bryce is the head honcho at Space Patrol Car, a division of 24.com. He’s also paid his dues at some of the earliest and most pioneering studios in South Africa.

We got him to answer some questions about hiring creative talent in South Africa, the role that agencies play and also that whole thing with the Windhoek banners on the News24 election site. He also waxes lyrical about that curse… the banner ad.

But let’s get him to answer the questions. Read more…

[image title="002perfect_mix" size="full" id="639" align="center" linkto="viewer" ]

The cadets at Space Patrol Car have been working late through the nights to bring you The Perfect Mix: a game that puts you behind the bar. The challenge is to pour the perfect Bombay Sapphire gin and tonic to put you inline to win a hamper filled with premium goodies each day. But you need to be sharp – adding too much will only cause spillage and adding too little .. well that’s your problem. Get mixing at here.

Dylan Jones

Dylan Jones is the real name of the well respected illustration/graphic designer Theory One (hope we didn’t bust your cover there!). He is currently employed by Gloo (who we’ve featured here before), which might explain why some of his work looks wildly familiar. The work we’re featuring has been apart from the Gloo stable though. You can catch Dylan’s entire latest portfolio on his Flickr account, and some of his older work (pre-Gloo days) on his own site. Pretty slick.
