The concept behind Field Office is simple; it serves as an office-out-of-the-office. South African product designers Pedersen + Lennard first opened the Field Office in Barrack Street to show off some of their slick furniture and smaller household items.

Voodoo Lily Café in Birdhaven is a best-kept-secret place to work from. Although it’s popular with the lunch crowd who don’t seem to ever work, if you get a table in a corner you’re guaranteed no distractions, free and fast Internet access and the chance to get a lot of work done in a very pleasant setting.

Like the name implies, The IT Corner looks out onto 4th and 7Th Avenue in Melville, Johannesburg. This unpretentious spot provides independent workers with everything they might need from an office including Wi-Fi, but in a coffee shop setting.
