New t-shirt range from Mingo Lamberti – The Beams

Mingo Lamberti has a new range of t-shirts out, and it’s being launched at the Assembly together with The Beams, which is also coincidentally what the range is called! We think it’s a massive conspiracy theory… with lazer beams. Or it’s not so coincidental at all..
Check out the Facebook event here. This is what they say:
Mingo Lamberti is launching its 4th range and limited edition t-shirts at Assembly on the 27th. Its a tribute to the Beams and their rocking ways. The range of three designs is inspired by the rock t-shirt genre of days gone by and captures the energy and craziness of the band. Only a limited number of these original tees are available and will be on sale for the first time in the republic at Assembly, where the Beams take to the stage. Miss out and you miss out. Mingo Lamberti specialises in designing and making original t-shirts and sweaters, keeping them original and limited, so you feel a little special when you wear them.

New G-Mo shoes mens range

G-mo has always had some of the funkiest shoes in Cape Town, but they were mostly restricted to a range only available to women. We cursed at Grandt for tempting us males with his own pair of awesome shoes. He’s finally decided to bring out a solid men’s range, as well as a couple of new styles for women.
Take a look at some more of the shoe’s after the jump.
2Bop – Interview with a clothing brand
We’ve asked the guys behind the awesome shirts and sweats label, 2Bop, a couple of questions. Check out some of their awesome clothes on their site, and look out for their clothes in some of the more trendy shops around town.
They say:
2Bop started in 2004 as a way to turn a passion for classic video games into a form of expression.
2Bop draws inspiration primarily from games that were popular in South Africa at corner shops and arcades in the1980’s and early 1990’s when gameplay was key and graphics if they were good were an added bonus. Disadvantaged areas during apartheid South Africa had little to offer in terms of exposure to cutting edge international design or computer technology but the bootleg arcade games that used twenty cent pieces (a 2Bop) to play at the corner shop were a window into what was happening in the outside world. These games granted access to excellent electronic entertainment and exposed the 2Bop crew to intuitive and engaging interface design, game design, graphic and sound design primarily from Japan and North America. And so began a long fascination with the medium that shows no signs of stopping.

Mingo Lamberti interview on Ideabounty
The ideabounty blog has a pretty good interview with Mingo Lamberti, the clothing guys. Check it out here: Mingo Lamberti. Rare and tasty..
Mingo Lamberti . Can you share the background story about the name and explain the concept in general to the nice folks in interweb land?Mingo Lamberti was my grandfather. He was a good man and believed in doing a good job at whatever he did. I try bring same principle into the t-shirts and designs. Well, there really is no massive concept behind the brand. Other companies have been making well designed t-shirts for ever. What I am doing is not new and that’s what encouraged me to do a good job at it, to make it stand out. It’s pretty simple how things happen. After many hours of begging designers to work on a new range, I send them a very open and inspiring brief to go crazy on and come up with some original and creative designs that the world has never seen. The designs all look different, because of the different interpretations of the brief and that produces a unique range of shirts.
