Who’dunnit? – Madiba wall art.

Loving the Madiba wall art in Mill Street. Saw it for the first time over the weekend so I think it’s pretty new. Can anyone tell us about it?
The photo was taken by Filipa Domingues and found at her blog.

Toyah Humphreys – Motel Seven
Toyah Humphreys is a female graffiti artist that grew up in South Africa with European parents. She’s since moved to Europe to persue her fine art career in galleries.
I had a solo show at 34 long street at the beginning of the year, and I am having a solo show in Amsterdam at the end of this year at the Willem Kerseboom gallery. I am also doing numerous group shows in London. I have been painting graffiti for around 5 years, and only in the last year moved into galleries. I love what I do, and am lucky enough to get paid to do it!
Street Mural in Kloof Street – Whodunnit

I remember seeing a photo gallery on Facebook where this was a Work in Progress, but I’ve lost it now… This is situated at the bottom Kloof street, just next to the Seven-Eleven or whatever that place is, opposite Buitenkloof Studios. Anyone know who did it?

“with elections coming up the slogan. ‘our dreams dont fit in your ballots’ has been used as a slogan to say that a cross in a ballot box is not enough.
here the artists have given the space for passers by to say what they want within their art… i love it…”
Rabbits in Long street

This came in from a street artist duo (Unlet):
Last week easter came and flew by, we decided to have a little fun in Long street. We made cardboard cutouts of bunny rabbit ears and eyes, and pasted them up all along Kloof and Long street. We don’t think that they lasted very long – the wind was pumping and blew a couple of ears flat. Either way, it was a fun little project and we definitely saw at least a couple of smiles as people walked past them!
Take a look at more pics and some behind the scenes as well. Read more…
