The President recently launched the new Channel O magazine called Coco Joe, a similar product to the MK Bruce Lee, but aimed at a different market. Check out the creative above and more from their press release:
Channel O – a leader in music television – has appointed design and publishing consultancy The President to launch the magazine Coco Joe as a brand extension for the channel.
The magazine is segmented with half the print run appealing to females (Coco) and the other half at males (Joe).
The magazine is packaged in a VIP lucky packet style format and the first issue features posters of some of South Africa’s biggest names in the entertainment industry including DJ Sbu, Pro, DJ Waxxy, Khanyi Mbau, Lira and Kelly Khumalo.
This issue was edited by Johannesburg based Nonkululeko Mlangeni – whose recent projects include curating “Do You Know Where Brenda Fassie Is?” as part of the Cape ’09 Biennale.
Together with the award-winning creative team of The President, they developed the concept as well as the look and feel for Channel O’s Coco Joe.
“We are very excited about launching this unique brand extension to complement our very successful Young Gifted and Black campaign,” said Lester Din, Marketing Manager for Channel O.
The quarterly magazine, with an initial print run of 5,000, will be distributed at selected Musica stores from 18 September at R39.95.
