Tomorrow is World Food Day and in a bid to raise awareness about food security and to help under-resourced schools, Woolworths have created a Living Wall online. Anyone wanting to support the cause is invited to ‘plant’ a virtual seedling.
The wall is based on a real vertical container food garden and has a live counter to show just how fast South Africans are going green and backing the cause. Over 2000 seedlings have already been planted after going live just yesterday. Visit the Living Wall site before Sunday, choose a tomato, strawberry, spinach or basil plant from the virtual nursery, put your name on it and ‘plant’ it at no cost to you. In so doing, a real food seedling will be donated by the Woolworths Trust and planted at a local school that has a permacuture food garden.
