17 Nov Die Heuwels Fantasties – Crowdsourcing Creative
Die Heuwels Fantasties – an Afrikaans alternative pop band for those who don’t know – have been getting very creative with the way they interact with their fans. They’ve recently run a facebook competition where the fan with the best suggestion for the new album’s title could win a Deluxe album and a pair of Raybans. The result saw a Namibian, Stefan van Zijl, winning the day with the title, “Vlae waansin. Trompette. Jasmyn.” For us English folks that translates to “Waves of Insanity. Trumpets. Jasmine.” You can have a look at the 5 finalists and the Facebook activity that happened around it here. The band chose the winner based on ‘likes’ received.
Entries are still coming in for their download – remix project, which has called for their fans to put an original spin on a track that will eventually be included on the physical CD. See here. While crowd sourced creative models aren’t new, these guys have taken to the spirit of co-creating with their fans almost as a band ethos and it’s really been working for them.
“Live performances are still our favourite way to build relationships with our fans and everything else that comes from that is because of them, so it makes sense that they can influence it if they want. That’s what we love about technology.” – DHF
Here is a teaser for their next music video, Noorderlig. The animated video is by amicollective. Looks like it’s going to be something quite amazing.
