23 Feb Kirsten Townsend updated – Republic Magazine
Keeping close ties with local designers and their activities, 10and5 welcomes back Kirsten Townsend who is a graduate from the Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography. She studied applied design majoring in graphic design and art direction.
Kirsten was given an opportunity to create her own brief as part of her last piece of work as a student. She tells us: I wanted to create an independent magazine with the primary concern of creating a platform for young creatives who are often not acknowledged for the work they produce. The creatives are non-commercial, but no less deserving of acknowledgment for their skills.
Articles focus on artists, designers, photographers, illustrators and writers. The majority are Cape Town based, with the exception of two. The first issue goes by the theme of ‘stitch’. All content relates to the term stitch, whether it is obvious or extremely abstract. Unlike a traditional magazine, the format is different, as well as different paper stocks being used throughout the magazine.
We wish you all the best for the future, and hope to see more work soon! Contact Kirsten at firstname.lastname@example.org
