Retha Ferguson is talented when it comes to illustratration (featured on 10and5 in 2009) but her photography you really need to see.
Here is a small collection of her photographs and a bit about the lady behind the lens: Retha Ferguson has been as indecisive about her career as she is about which fisheye lens she’s saving up for. She studied Fine Arts after which she dipped her toes in Graphic design and it finally looks like she’ll be settling for photojournalism.
Her fine art photography was honoured with a Merit Award at the Sasol New Signatures Competition 2007 and the Gerard Sekoto Prize at the Absa L’Atelier Competition 2008. In 2009 she went to the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris where she spent three months vigorously shaking hands with artists from all over the world. 2010 marked her first solo exhibition. A travelling exhibition visiting all the major cities in South Africa, sponsored by The Alliance Française and The French Institute in South Africa.
Currently she’s working as a photojournalist at Big Issue South Africa and does photo retouching to keep the sushi flowing. During her spare time she blogs and tweets about art and absurdity. She is a big Woody Allen fan.
