04 Aug A Lamb a Day for Braai Day
Vegetarians look away now! National Braai Day takes place on Heritage Day in South Africa, the 24th of September. In a build up to the day, the National Braai Day organisers are giving away a whole lamb a day to facebook fans! For 60 days! Winners can decide whether they’d like their lamb whole – ready for the spit-braai – or in specific cuts and chops. Promise we’re not making this up.
The giveaway has already started and ends on Braai Day. Every day, fans of the National Braai Day Facebook page are invited to answer a simple braai-themed question by commenting on the page’s status for that day. The draw takes place using a random number generator online and the winner is announced on the page the next day.
The man behind the National Braai Day initiative, Jan Braai said: “Our goal is to unite 50 million South Africans around braai fires once a year. The give-away –which I’m calling the ‘lamb shank redemption’ rather than the ‘Silence of the Lambs’ – is a great way to get South Africans pumped up and excited about National Braai Day this year.”
