Luma Animation for SKA Africa

The Luma Animation team of illustrators, designers and animators enjoyed free rein to show off their abilities on their latest brief from SKA Africa (Square Kilometre Array Africa). To answer the brief, Luma had to produce a visualisation to showcase the MeerKAT (Karoo Array Telescope) project at an international scientific convention in Banff, Canada. The MeerKAT project, itself quite ambitious, involves 64 world-class radio telescopes arranged in a random pattern located in the heart of the Karoo Astronomical Reserve. With South Africa and Australia the only two countries in the running to host the larger SKA project, the MeerKAT project had to be showcased with a 90 second promo to communicate the key points to the scientific community and other audiences.
