16 Sep Featured: Pamela Deans-Dundas
Pamela Deans-Dundas graduated from Central St Martins College of Art and Design in 2009, where she studied Jewellery Design. She then joined the jewellery team at the college as a teaching assistant – helping students in the studio, finding solutions to their design problems and supporting the tutors in their various roles. During this time Pamela also collaborated with textile designers, architects and other artists before moving to Cape Town last year. Her work focuses on concepts like growth and deterioration and the idea of value. She has now joined with 5 other artists from various disciplines to set up Collective 101 where she is currently working on her new collection.
Most of these images are of Pamela’s ‘Reclaimed’ collection while the mielie rings above are a sneak peek at her new work ‘Value?’ which will be on show tonight at the Collaborate/Participate/Celebrate-Art Exhibition opening.
The exhibition is part of Creative Week Cape Town and is a collaboration between the Alex Hamilton Studio Gallery and Collective 101. Exhibiting along side Pamela are Tessa Whyatt – Ceramic Artist, Tarryn Gordon – Painter, Grainne McHugh – Ceramic Sculptor, Ruth Ehrke – Painter, Melanie Sutton – Painter and Alex Hamilton – Pop Artist.
