Introducing Lightworks

Lightworks, a collective project that revolves around contemporary music and aesthetics, is throwing a launch party and you’re invited!

The Cape Town-based movement focuses on getting listeners to consider the function of music and art in a South African context. Curators Robin Brink, Ross Dorkin and Mohato Lekena use events such as New Evenings, We Like Bass and Young Supreme to amalgamate sound with visuals that will stimulate new thinking towards both mediums.

The Lightworks art and music project will give listeners food for the eyes, ears and mind by exposing people to elements of music that have been forgotten or undervalued and combining these sounds with matched visuals. It’s a concept that mixes two of Cape Town’s budding creative communities; art and music production.

The Lightworks collective launch party is happening this Friday 14 October at Ragazzi Lounge (33 Long Street) and will include sounds by Oxblood, Wildebeats, ANDZZnoHANDZ, House Man Geoff and DJ Discipline. Lightworks collective will also be showcasing one of its visual installations.

It’s a free event. For more info, check out the Facebook page.
