19 Oct BLOOM – a fashion show with a difference
Don’t forget – on November 3rd The City of Cape Town and Positive Heroes will host “the fashion event of the year” in an attempt to change minds about the stigma surrounding HIV.
The event will take place at the city’s iconic Civic Centre and will see twenty-two SA designers showcasing (and donating) their best BLOOM-inspired pieces.
If any city loves fashion it’s the Mother City and now’s (summer is around the corner people!) a fine time to get the new trends on your radar. Positive living is about feeling great, having fun and looking terrific so Positive Heroes chose to combine fashion with education in order to get people to think differently about those infected with HIV.
Executive Director of the NGO, Sue Wildish, says “Our aim is to emphasise the idea that Living Positively and Fashionable is entirely possible if you manage your status.”
The third instalment of this event is inspired by the Tennessee Williams’ quote “The violets in the mountains have broken the rocks.” – even against a mountain of stigma people can BLOOM and win despite rocky times.
There will be an auction at the fashion show and funds raised will go towards Positive Heroes life-saving initiatives.
Cocktails and eats will suppress the hunger pangs and live entertainment will keep attendees sufficiently enthralled. Go on, enjoy the show.
