Canvas for Marie Claire’s Body Issue

Canvas was also asked to participate in the Marie Claire Love Your Body ad challenge. This is the ad they came up with and the concept behind it, “Children are subliminally fed perfect images of woman through movies, magazines, celebrities and toys. Often Barbie is the first symbol young girls seem to be influenced by and becomes the stereotype they aspire to.

 

Clearly these expectations of the perfect figure are completely unrealistic. In fact if some of these toys were real, the proportions wouldn’t even allow them to stand. Working with this insight we thought it would be the perfect symbol to illustrate how the so called ‘body imperfections’ one acquires, are from truly experiencing life and should be celebrated rather than hidden.”
