Eat Your Heart Out was started by Jade de Waal during her first year at university when she found herself cooking for culinary challenged friends almost every night. She wanted to break their fear of cooking by sharing simple, step-by-step recipes using staple ingredients.
Jade explains how EYHO took off from there,”What started off as food jams – where I’d invite people I like to come over, cook, drink, eat and be merry – got so hot I approached a friend, foodie, photographer and filmmaker Adam Kent Wiest to shoot 2-minute recipes based on the idea of EYHO as an experiment.
But being a two-man band was a slow cooker, as we were both doing other projects. When friends Lesedi Rudolph and Dewald Brand of One.Dog.Chicken Productions launched WHOCSOC.com, a student guide to what happens on/off campus, we decided to take the cooking world by storm and produce student cooking shows.”
So far EYHO, with One.Dog.Chicken Productions, has produced four editions of their online cooking show hosted on WHOCSOC. Have a look:
The first of the festival series was shot at Rocking the Daisies in a bid to feed the hungry and hungover.
Next up, the team plans to head out to markets around Cape Town in December, and there’s a reality cooking show in the pipeline.
