Pictures from Night of 1000 Drawings in Johannesburg

Thursday the 10th of November 2011 saw another installation of the annual Night of 1000 Drawings event. It was a fantastic turn-out once again, and Braamfontein lit up with whole raft of different people flocking to the Johannesburg CBD.

The venue stretched from the newly started Neighbourgoods Market on 73 Juta street through the alley to South Point and into Lamunu.

DJ’s and live bands were scattered through the area and provided different entertainment options for guests looking.

The concept being Night of 1000 Drawings is to raise funds for charity by selling A5 drawings donated by the public. All works are sold for R100 on the night, and if you are fortunate enough you can pick up pieces by some of South Africa’s brilliant local illustrators and designers who have also submitted some drawings.

The quality of the drawings obviously vary wildly as one can imagine – drawings are submitted by various people, kids, lawyers, photographers and anyone who wants to draw. Submissions were collected by drop-boxes located at a numerous coffee shops and establishments around Johannesburg.

A great event and we’re looking forward to the next Night of 1000 Drawings! Scroll down for more pictures of the night.
