23 Nov Want to be a video game designer?
Any gamer who’s been caught up in a storyline, wowed by slick animation or impressed by good game play (or even just thought they could do it better) will be excited to know that the possibility of learning to design games is now here.
Starting in February 2012, Friends of Design is offering a year-long extensive Game Technology & Multimedia Entertainment design course, the first of its kind in South Africa. The next few years should see graphic artists and programmers graduating just in time to contribute to the imminent rocketing of our relatively new Game Design industry and will be able to provide sought after skills.
The course modules include the basics of game production, Unity3D Game Engine, game theory, level design, 3D modelling and animation, game scripting and a final project focusing on your strengths that will become your portfolio piece. The skills gained will ensure grads have the tools for working with emerging technologies such as mobile platforms, augmented reality and social networks.
So whether you’d like to ultimately become a Game Designer, Concept Artist, 3D Modeler, 2D Artist & Animator, Level Designer or Game Scripter, Friends of Design has it covered.
