Gustav Greffrath’s work for Young Africa Live made our Best of 2011 in the Graphic Design category. Here is some more recent work of his; a personal interpretation of local typography using Chappies, SA’s best loved bubblegum brand. Gustav describes the type as “a deliberate move away from the stereotypical hand printed, unstructured, woodcut lettering often associated with Africa.”
The Chappies were first used to write “nee” and then chewed to create the second piece, “Ag what ever”. The work has been chosen to be featured in iJusi Magazine Afrikaner Typographica III.
