Graphic designer, illustrator and screenprinter, Claudette Maskell, has launched her first collection of hand-printed fabrics called WE-FLOCK.
After graduating from the University of the North West, Potchefstroom, with a degree in Graphic Design, Claudette pursued her passion for textiles and prints by taking classes in screen printing. Now based in Observatory, Cape Town, she creates artwork that explores ideas of existentialism and a longing to travel whilst combining her love of nature with aspects of ritualism, patterning and tribal art.
The illustrations for the WE-FLOCK collection are first drawn with ink and brush and then are digitally re-worked and finally screen printed onto fabrics. The fabrics combine some elements of traditional organic ink illustrations with some very graphic interpretations.
