30 Apr Liza Grobler exhibition at Brundyn + Gonsalves
Brundyn + Gonsalves present Liza Grobler’s 9th solo exhibition called White Termite. The show is loosely based on Eugene Marais’ book, “The Soul of the White Ant” and is a mixed media installation consisting of a constructed space that interacts with the gallery’s interior and visitors moving through it. The exhibition will consist of an array of media such as painting, drawing, beadwork, sculpture, digital projections and performance.
Since receiving her Masters Degree in Fine Art with distinction from Stellenbosch University in 1999, Grobler has worked in a diverse range of artistic practices, from traditional craft techniques to site-specific work. Her art facilitates a conversation between image, language and daily life. Grobler has participated in over a hundred group shows locally and abroad and has attended residencies and workshops in America, Norway, Finland and Switzerland. Her most recent site-specific project is the ‘Mooi uitsig to Mooiuitsig Artventure’ for HAWK 2012. She is a part-time drawing lecturer at the UCT School of Architecture.
