Highway Memorial by Green Renaissance

In response to the rampant poaching of South Africa’s rhinos, the Green Renaissance team created this highway memorial for the 312 rhinos that have been killed during the first seven months of 2012. They wanted to create awareness of this and so armed with steel wire scrubbing brushes, and cut out stencils, they created reverse graffiti images along the side of the N2 highway, near the Cape Town Airport.

312 crosses were scrubbed, one each cross for every rhino killed. The activation will be an evolving reminder, updated monthly to raise awareness for the plight of rhinos.
