Natalie Creed is a fashion designer and entrepreneur who established her self-titled label in a one bedroom apartment in 2011. Since, the label has grown to produce two collections a year and can be found at an increasing number of stockists around the country and online. This Summer, Natalie has also produced a small mid-season range.
The Natalie Creed look embodies a feeling of young femininity with an edge of modern sophistication. Her silhouettes are made unique, yet wearable, by using playful ruffles, lace, peepholes and bows, and her fabric and colour choices vary widely from simple cottons to intricate laces and brocades. All the garments are currently made by hand to ensure personal control over the quality and styling.
Here’s some of her Summer 2013 collection.
Natalie let us know the inspiration behind it:
The inspiration for this collection was really a mash up of emotions and confusion about where I wanted to take my label. With people telling me I needed to cater for the corporate market if I wanted to make it financially, I reacted by being overly true to my feminine, girly style, using glittery tulle, head to toe matching florals, bows and an abundance of ruffles!
I think some sensibility did however remain in the wearability of the collection. It has a balance of young playfulness and sophisticated modernism. With a new addition to my little collection of muses, I had fresh inspiration from her whispers of Rococo and Oriental richness, which became underlying threads throughout the collection.
